Therapists Beyond Borders is seeking a compassionate Director of Development to join our leadership team and support us in our mission of empowering worldwide communities that care for individuals with disabilities/disabled individuals through rehab-focused training programs. While this is a volunteer position, the successful applicant may be eligible for a stipend.

Director of Development Overview

The Director of Development acts as a champion for securing funding for TBB programs, growth, and impact. This position is crucial to the success and sustainability of the organization in achieving its mission.

Director of Development Responsibilities

  • Establish fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications, Social Media Manager, Ambassador Program Manager, and Passport to Potential Program Manager regarding fundraising initiatives.
  • Supervise Grants Coordinator to search potential sources of, and apply for, grants and public funding.
  • Identify and cultivate major gift prospects and individual donors, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events that engage donors and effectively communicate the purposes of the organization.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.

Director of Development Qualifications (Required): 

  • Must be based in the USA
  • Demonstrate high-levels of transparency and fiduciary responsibility
  • Demonstrate a history of successful program advancement
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Deep commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate creativity, innovation, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace.
  • Minimum 7-10 hours per week (ideally more).
  • Minimum commitment of one year (ideally more long-term).
